What Is Kettlercise?

Kettlebells – Kettlercise is a great workout class combining intensive muscular strength and tone with a fat burning aerobic effect for all fitness levels

This all round class uses Kettlebells from 2kg to 12 kg to suit all fitness levels.

It gives you a cardio, strength, muscle tone and core workout that works so well in several ways. The complex compound moves engage the whole body at once and use the sabiliser muscles that dumbbells and fixed weights don’t touch. Ligaments and joints are strengthened.

For fat burning we know that a class burns around 600 calories in 50 minutes and then continues to burn calories as your muscles repair themselves.

This can be an intensive workout but all of our regulars started with a light weight, took plenty of rest and built up steadily.

One of the few classes showing visible results within the first 4-6 weeks.

What are kettlebells?

Kettlebells have been around for a very  long time. Developed in Russia in the 1700’s and used by the Russian  Army throughout the 20th century as part of their physical training regime.

Kettlebells are usually made out of cast iron. A cannonball sized weight with a sturdy handle. Very different looking from the usual free weights and machinery that are seen around a gym.

Kettlebell exercises are far more subtle than traditional weight training. They require coordination and kinesthetic (body) awareness to perfect. A single exercise consists of multiple joints and muscle groups moving simultaneously, often in ways that are new and unfamiliar to most people.

Classes will contain 30-40 different exercises and because the movements are so different they take practice—and professional attention—to master and to help avoid injury.
